Blustery

The last couple of days have been so windy it has nearly knocked all the leaves off the trees. It has been a glorious Fall with bright colors and warm sunshine, but now looking out the window the trees are all exposed. The world is becoming dim showing the bare gray branches through the bleak sunlight with the once cool crisp air turning bitter cold. I do believe winter is just right around the corner folks!
I dislike my long absences from blogging. It's good for the soul to shout out words across the internet every once in a while, but due to various distractions I have been detained for far too long. But do not fret, the slight disarray in my life is clearing up! More reasonable work hours are on the horizon and I can actually see me having time on my hands to do things I want to do in the near future! On that note let's dive in to some exciting things Rosie has been discovering :)
It had been over 6 weeks since I went to a concert when I caught the Jagermeister tour a few weekends ago. Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax were conquering the stage in Grand Rapids and I really wanted to go check it out. Such legendary bands so close I could hardly resist, but duty called and I went to work. As I was pulling in to my job they called me off for the night. I had two hours to get to the gig. Did I make it? Did I get front row in the bleachers? Was it epic? Yes. It was an incredible evening filled with intense brutality, metal head armies moshing, and such a volume made your head could explode. I was smart and wore ear plugs. I girl should never be with out them! It was a stadium gig which is fun, but I still dig the club shows. I'm hitting one up Friday at good old Reggie's in Chicago. Catching Blackguard and Nevermore. It should be a great gig and I'll be sure to report in detail. Don't worry ;)
When I'm in a mellow music mood I usually turn to Monastic chants or to the band Harmaja. Monophonic chants from the 12th century are some of the most enchanting and haunting voices I've ever heard. Carrying such eloquence and strength through the Latin lyrics leaves one so hopeful, so comfortable. Though I enjoy the full complete sound of metal, I do like the simplicity, the purity, and clear sound of monastic chanting.

I discovered Harmaja several years ago through their lead singer. I'm a huge fan of JP Leppalioto and whatever music project this guy has been involved with I've loved. Haramaja is an acoustic band that sings all in Finnish. It sounds very melancholy, very humble, and soothing. Almost like a sad lullaby. JP's voice has such a rich rough organic tone to it which fits so perfectly with the sweet piano and guitar melodies. There is such a valued passion in them preserved in their quite approach to music. One doesn't have to be loud and bombastic to project a strong powerful sound. I love this band. Check 'em out and be soothed :)

Can't really update my reading situation unfortunately, I'm in between good books right now. I've been waiting for one to arrive from amazon and I'm getting impatient! So until I crack the covers of that, or until I have another concert adventure to share, or until I get the time to spit out more randomness I will update! Till next time! Cheers dear ones!
